The Truth about Sisterhood

Sister

You know the funny thing about sisters?

Is you love them and you love to hate them, but the funny thing is YOU are the only person that is allowed to hate them. The minute someone else says something negative about your sister, it becomes completely wrong and your defense mode comes into play. Haven’t we all felt that at some point?

I know for my sister and I, we have an un-breakable bond, a partnership, a trust, and a love that no one could ever break. We smile together, we laugh together, we cry together, and sometimes we even fight together. I would never change it or regret it, but the truth is we should never hate anyone. Hate is a strong and powerful word, and an even deeper emotion. No matter how much anger or pain can live in our hearts, we should never talk down or rude to anyone, not even our own family. Sometimes it’s easy to forget our own family has feelings too, because maybe we are so used to the ups and downs that even with the people closest to us, we’ve become immune to it. We need to take a step back and look into our hearts and ask ourselves “Am I showing love to those around me? Am I lifting my friends and family up? Am I lifting myself up? The only way we can lift others up and encourage others is by lifting ourself up first and encouraging ourself to wake up each day with purpose and motivation. Purpose to make a difference and the motivation to take the first step to do it.

Every day is filled with choices. And Every friendship and relationship takes work, time, effort, communication and trust. Those are the secrets to success in making a relationship with another human being work and be sustainable.
I look at this picture of my sister and I and remember how proud and happy we were to be each other’s dates to my best friends wedding. My sister is my other half/best friend and I wouldn’t change a thing about her. We have our ups and our downs, but the ups are so high that it makes our low points quickly disappear and they become more learning curves in our lives. Because of that, we continue to grow, climb the wall of life, and lift each other up. We are each other’s support system and that’s the strongest support you can have is your own sister your own family .
Cherish each moment spent with a special family member in your life. Give them a call and simply say you are thankful for one thing about them. I bet it will change their mood for the entire day. What not a better way to start your weekend! Cheers to the weekend.
Why not go through your phone list, pick up the phone, and say hi to an old friend? Maybe even an old family member? Just check-in and say hello. You never know what tomorrow holds, so make today great.
